ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – During the afternoon of March 30, the UCF volleyball team took on Florida State at Santa Fe College in Gainesville. The Knights played four 15-point sets against the Seminoles, winning three.
"It was nice to get on the floor against a highly athletic team who has enjoyed so much success over the past several years," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "They're quite a collection of athletes who understand the game of volleyball. It was a tremendous challenge for our players to go out and execute at that high of a level consistently."
Kia Bright paced the Knights offensively, tallying 14 kills on a .320 hitting percentage. Alli Sabol followed close behind with 13 kills. Taylor Wickey hit .500 in the match with eight kills and three blocks. Laché Harper and Nerissa Moravec recorded seven and five kills, respectively. Jordan Pingel led the group with eight digs.
"We know we still have a way to go before we are ready to challenge our goals for the fall, but in the meantime having some success in the spring matches is adding fuel to our fire," said Dagenais.
The Knights wrap up the spring season with a match against Florida. UCF faces the Gators on April 9 at the conclusion of the Disney Junior Qualifier at ESPN's face Florida on April 9 at the conclusion of the Disney Volleyball Showcase at ESPN's Wide World of Sports. The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Admission is $17.50 per person.
