ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - For the second time this season, the UCF Varsity Eight was named the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The squad, which consisted of Nicole Mayer, Lauren Aiello, Ashleigh Boyd, Julie Poulsen, Marija Medelinskaite, Viktorija Senkute, Mia Cleary, Edvina Nesukaityte and Zana Krakic, collected a pair of victories at the Sunshine State Invitational in Sarasota. On Friday, the Knights edged Tulsa for first by one second. In Saturday competition, the Black and Gold were nearly three seconds faster than second place Miami.
UCF earned the Boat of the Week distinction for the second time this season after garnering the honor on March 21.
The Knights return to action on April 8. UCF travels to Sacramento, Calif., for the two-day Lake Natoma Invitational.
