ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) — The UCF men's tennis team rounded out the regular season at No. 30 in the Oracle/ ITA team rankings as announced on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Korey Lovett jumped up to No. 43 in singles.
In the last rankings before the NCAA Selection Show, the Knights are sitting at No. 30, which is a program high. Last week, UCF entered the American Athletic Conference Championships as the third seed. In the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Black and Gold downed sixth-seeded Tulsa, 4-1, for the first time in 39 years. UCF advanced to the finals with a sweep of No. 27 Tulane, the second seed. No. 24 USF ended the Knights run in the championship match.
Lovett is coming off an incredible season. The Brevard, N.C., native has a 14-8 record on the top singles court. He started the season with a six-match winning streak. The junior has added wins against multiple ranked opponents including No. 28 Or Ram-
Harel of Tulsa, No. 46 Ronald Slobodchikov of SMU, No. 62 Sasha Gozun of USF. Lovett has helped the Knights secure five top-30 wins this season.
The Knights' postseason fate will be determined on Tuesday, May 2 at 5 p.m., during the NCAA Selection Show.
