ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Baseball team is set to host UConn for three games at the UCF Baseball Complex this weekend. The Knights are riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping East Carolina on the road last weekend and defeating Bethune-Cookman at home Tuesday. The Black and Gold enter the weekend tied for fourth in the American Athletic Conference at 5-4 with an overall record of 27-11. The Huskies come to town tied for second in The American at 6-3 with a season tally of 20-14.

The Knights have scored 246 runs this season, a dozen more than the next closest conference opponent. Outfielder Luke Hamblin leads the league with 27 walks and 33 runs scored.

The UCF offense is hitting a combined .280 with 67 doubles, 14 triples, and 30 home runs this season. Outfielder Eli Putnam leads the team in extra-base hits with 14 doubles, two triples and four home runs. The Knights have stolen 69-76 bases this season, Infielder Matthew Mika is 18-20 to lead charge.

Senior Juan Pimentel and freshman Joe Sheridan are among just four starting pitchers in The American to have earned six wins this season. Pimentel's season ERA of 1.90 also ranks second among conference foes (Trey Cumbie, Hou., 1.40).

Senior Robby Howell is slated to start for the home team Friday, with Pimentel going Saturday and Sheridan taking the mound first on Sunday.
The Black and Gold currently rank second in all of NCAA Division I with a combined staff ERA of 2.48.

UCF is 2-1 in conference series' this season and has already surpassed its 2016 overall win total. The Knights are 22-6 at home, already five games better than a year ago, and have split their 10 road games this season.

Game two Saturday is slated for 1 p.m. and is part of the UCFastival activities surrounding the Knights spring football game. Sunday's series finale is also scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
