MIAMI (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's tennis team battled hard, but fell to No. 30 Florida International, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.
Both teams competed well today," head coach Bryan Koniecko said. "I thought we played at a high level in doubles but just couldn't take the small opportunities that FIU gave us on court one. There are a lot of positives that we can take away from this match going into our match against USF."
The Knights dropped a hard-fought doubles point. Emilia Granstrom and Natalia Serrano made quick work of Marynna Veksler and Ulyana Grib, 6-1, recording the lone doubles win for UCF.
The Black and Gold battled through singles, but dropped three straight singles matches. Monica Matias had taken the first set away from No. 41 Andrea Lazaro, 6-1, and was on-serve 5-4 in the second when the match was won. Emilia Granstrom was up 6-4, 2-0 on court three when the match was called.
UCF has the weekend off before hosting USF in its War On I-4 match on April 15 at 7 p.m.
