ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After posting a 12-8 record on the season, the UCF women's tennis team has earned the eighth seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship at the USTA National Campus.
UCF has drawn No. 9 Houston. The Knights will take on the Cougars at noon on Wednesday. The Black and Gold will be playing on courts one through six, which are on the right side of the collegiate complex.
Last season, the Knights drew the Cougars in the quarterfinal matchup, where UCF fell 4-0.
UCF is coming off a tough 4-1 loss to the Bulls. This season, the Black and Gold boast a 68-45 overall singles record with five players recording 10 or more victories. Senior Cortney Cesarini leads the group with 15 wins, followed by junior Monica Matias with 14. The duo has paired up for a 13-3 mark at No. 1 doubles.
Houston (10-12) is coming off a 5-2 victory against Stephen F. Austin. This season, the Cougars have recorded wins against UTEP, New Mexico, Kansas State, Bowling Green and UConn. Sveva Mazzari leads UH with a 10-7 singles mark in dual matches.
There is living scoring and live video for all matches. The finals on Saturday at 3 p.m will be broadcasts on the American Digital Network.
The winner between UCF and Houston will advance to Thursday's quarterfinal match against top-seeded Tulsa at 12 p.m.
