ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 27 UCF baseball team is set to host Stetson Wednesday at the UCF Baseball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here or calling 407-UCF-1000.
The Knights opened American Athletic Conference play by taking two of three games from then-No. 11 Houston over the weekend.
The UCF pitching staff has a combined ERA of 2.21 that currently ranks third in NCAA Division I. The Black and Gold also have the sixth most stolen bases in the nation with 58, and rank 10th in stolen bases per game at 2.00.
Sophomore right-hander Thad Ward is scheduled to make his first start of the season against the Hatters. Ward is 2-0 in 15 relief appearances and has an ERA of 0.00 through 17.1 innings. He's given up just two runs on 14 hits and has 14 strikeouts.
The Knights are 70-48 all-time against the Hatters, dating back to 1975 when the teams first met. The last meeting took place May 2, 2012 in Deland, as the Knights bested the Hatter 5-4 in 13 innings.
