ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's golf team heads north to Gainesville this weekend, to take part in the Suntrust Gator Women's Invite at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. The two-day event hosted by Florida University, will see 13 teams battle the 6,002-yard par 70 track.
UCF has finished in the top-10 at each of its seven events this season including four finishes in the top-five. Senior Ashley Holder has posted the team's top individual score five times and notched her best result of the year just a few weeks ago at the All State Sugar Bowl Classic, where she tied for fourth.
"We've had a decent start to our spring season and I know the team is close to breaking thru with a big time performance," UCF head coach Emily Marron said. "The lineup we played with the entire fall is the same we will play this weekend. Our team is deep this season and we've been rotating players in to see who will be the strongest five to play in the post season. "
Holder will lead the Knights again this weekend, along with seniors Ayaka Nakayama and Johanna Larsson, junior Kaeli Jones and freshman Maria Balcazar. Sophomore Nicolette Donovan will also be competing as an individual.
The starting five have combined for 31 sub-par rounds this season and four of the five starters have posted at least one sub-70 round in competition. Holder leads the squad with a 71.9 scoring average and two top-10 finishes.
