ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After a disappointing midweek series with No. 2 Florida State, the UCF baseball team will look to get back to its winning ways this weekend. The team hosts Central Michigan for a three-game series at the UCF Baseball Complex Mar. 10-12.
The Knights dropped two games to the Seminoles, but despite the setback, the 11-3 squad is still hitting .302, scoring 94 runs on 138 hits so far in 2017. The offense has produced 22 doubles, six triples, and nine home runs.
UCF pitching boasts a team ERA of 2.38, giving up 41 runs on 98 hits with 42 walks and 134 strikeouts.
Seniors Robby Howell and Juan Pimentel are scheduled to start Friday and Saturday, with redshirt junior Jason Bahr getting the nod on Sunday. Pimentel is 3-0 with a 1.56 ERA through 17.1 innings while Bahr leads the team with 19 strikeouts.
The Knights are 8-5 all-time against Central Michigan dating back to the first meeting in 1985. More recently, the Chippewa took two out of three from UCF back on Mar. 7-9 2014, with both wins going 10 innings and having been decided by a single run.
Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and parking is $5 cash only in the outfield lot or free in garage F or lot E8. Saturday and Sunday ALL parking is free and Sunday the first 150 fans will receive UCF baseball cards and free sunglasses compliments of UCF Student Government Association while supplies last.
