ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Following a standout season for the Knights, UCF men's basketball sophomore B.J. Taylor earned All-American Athletic Conference Second Team honors for his performance during 2016-17, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Taylor is one of just two Knights to collect all-conference accolades from The American, joining Isaiah Sykes, who was a second team honoree back in 2013-14.

A native of Orlando, Taylor leads the Knights with 17.2 points and 3.6 assists per game from the point guard position. He ranks fifth in the league in scoring and 10th in assists.  Taylor was AAC Player of the Week once and earned Weekly Honor Roll accolades one time during the season.

Taylor's best outing was a 27-point effort in UCF's win over No. 15 Cincinnati on Feb. 26.  He went 10-for-19 from the floor and hit a step back three in the final minute of play to secure the victory for the Knights on Senior Day.

Scoring in double figures in 21-of-23 games played this season, Taylor has been integral to UCF's success this.  He has led the Knights to a 20-10 overall record and a league mark of 11-7 heading into the 2017 Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Championship.

The Knights, with their highest ever seed in the history of the AAC Tournament at fourth, will open up play Friday at 2 p.m. against fifth seeded Memphis.  Coverage of the Knights' quarterfinal game against the Tigers will be on ESPN2 and FM 96.9 The Game.
