ARLINGTON, Texas (UCFKnights.com) – Due to a travel deadline, the UCF women's tennis team's match against UT Arlington was cancelled. The Knights were leading 3-0 when it was called on Sunday afternoon.
The match, which was scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, was moved indoors and began at 2:30 p.m. The Knights clinched the doubles point with 6-4 victories on court one and court two.
At No. 1 singles, Natalia Serrano defeated Angeles de los Rios, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, to put UCF up 2-0.
Monica Matias added a second singles victory for the Knights. The junior earned a 6-2, 6-3 win against Astrid Gehre at No. 2.
On court three, Cortney Cesarini took the first set away from UTA's Agustina Serio, 6-3, before dropping the second set, 5-7. Cesarini was leading 5-4 in the third set when the match was called due to travel deadlines.
The Knights return to the USTA National Campus on Thursday to take on Furman at noon.
