ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The American Athletic Conference announced UCF outfielder Kyle Marsh as its Player of the Week Monday. After dropping a close 4-3 decision in Gainesville, Marsh led the Knights to an 11-2 rout of No. 2 Florida at the UCF Baseball Complex last week.

"Kyle has had a great start to the season for us and a remarkable week," UCF head coach Greg Lovelady said. "He has been a big reason for our success so far which is impressive considering he missed all of last year. He has a very mature approach at the plate and is very competitive. It's not always easy to be good at both but he has been up to this point."

Marsh went 3-for-5 at home against the Gators, hitting .394 with six RBIs on two doubles and a home run. As his squad ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first, he doubled in his first at-bat, bringing home a run to extend the lead to two. Later in the third, he mashed his second home run of the season, a two-run shot that pushed the home team's lead to 4-0.

Florida manufactured its first run in the fifth, and the Knights answered making it 6-1 heading into the seventh. That's when Marsh stepped up with the base loaded and ripped a bases-clearing double down the left field line, picking up three more RBIs.

Marsh seems to relish playing at home against the Gators. Two years ago (March 3, 2015), as a true freshman, Marsh started on the mound against then-No. 2 Florida and tossed four innings, allowing two hits and just one run in a 4-3 UCF victory.

Marsh also had a big weekend as the Knights swept Stony Brook in a three-game homestand. He went 5-for-9 against the Seawolves, adding 4 more RBIs and another home run. Marsh leads the Knights in extra base hits and RBIs this season, notching eight doubles, one triple, and two homeruns totaling 15 RBIs.

Next up, the Black and Gold play host to nationally-ranked Florida State this week, for two midweek games Mar. 7-8 at the UCF Baseball Complex. Click here to purchase tickets in advance or call 407-UCF-1000.
