DALLAS, Texas (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match, 5-2, to American Athletic Conference foe SMU on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights put up a fight but ultimately dropped the doubles point for the first time in regular season play since March 11, 2016.

In singles, junior Elizabeth Bagerbaseh went back and forth before winning the first set 6-4 on court five. In the second set, the Longdon, England native was up 4-0 before SMU's Ellie Zogg started chipping away at the lead. Zong forced a second-set tiebreaker but Bagerbaseh collected the victory, 7-3 in the tiebreaker.

On court three, Emilia Granstrom went toe-to-toe against Ana Perez-Lopez. In the first set, each player held their own serve until Granstrom broke to take a 6-5 lead. The Gothenburg, Sweden native held serve to clinch the first set. In the second, Granstrom used the momentum to win the second set, 6-1.  

UCF wraps up its road trip at UT Arlington on Sunday at 1 p.m.
