GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - A pair of Knights turned in record performances to highlight a day of personal bests from the UCF track and field team at the 2017 Pepsi Florida Relays.
Anne-Marie Blaney collected her first outdoor school record of the season in the 1500-meter run. Chelsea Gobourne improved her record mark in the hammer throw.
Blaney cruised to a 4:21.64 time in the 1500-meter run. The Ocala, Fla., native, who already held the UCF record in the event, finished ninth overall.
Gobourne's second throw of the day landed at 198-01/60.37m. The Sarasota, Fla., native, who set the hammer throw record as a junior, finished 10th in the standings.
Rosie Chamberlain finished sixth in the 800-meter run. Her mark of 2:04.76 was just shy of her school-record time in the event, but was a season-best mark for the junior. Freshman Crystal Tejeda won her heat and finished 21st overall in the 800 with a time of 2:11.82.
With her final throw of the day, Gabby Durant set a personal best in the hammer throw. Her distance of 178-01/54.27m improved her career-best mark and gave her 15th in the event.
One of the first UCF competitors of the day, Tayla Greene's second toss in the discus landed at a season-best mark of 151-10/46.29m.
After tossing a personal best javelin distance in the outdoor opener on March 17, Precious Williams improved her mark with her final throw on Friday. Her 139-11/42.65m mark gave her 11th in the event.
The 4x400 meter relay squad advanced to Saturday's finals with a time of 3:42.85.
Ebony Crear added a top 15 finish for the Knights in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 59.85. Kalleigh Forrester rounded out the day for the Black and Gold with a season-best mark of 11:01.90 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to finish 12th overall.
UCF wraps up the weekend in Gainesville on Saturday.
