ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The 2017 Central Florida Rowing Camp will be held June 25-29, and registration is now open.
Central Florida Rowing Camp caters to both beginner and experienced rowers and coxswains. UCF head rowing coach Becky Cramer and her staff offer a challenging, fun, and rewarding experience where beginners learn fundamental skills, and experienced athletes focus on technical development and race performance.
Open to girls entering grades 9-12, check in will begin at 2 p.m. on June 25, followed by the first meeting and training session at 5 p.m. Camp will conclude at noon on June 29.
Rowers are divided into groups by experience and ability with low staff-to-camper ratios for concentrated teaching. There is a strong focus on individual skills as well as a dynamic program that advances team tactics. Water sessions include attention to technique, focusing on rhythm/ratio, blade work, and catch & release positions. Land sessions include physical training in addition to lessons on race tactics, nutrition, and collegiate rowing / recruiting. Daily activities include video analysis, and question and answer sessions.
Coxswains will be given specialized training with a well-rounded approach for the tactical, technical and psychological aspects of the position. The coxswain's role will be enhanced as they participate in land training activities with the rowers.
