ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF Baseball team dropped its second-straight decision to Dartmouth 4-1 at the UCF Baseball Complex Saturday. The Knights will look to avoid being swept when the season-series concludes Sunday at noon.
The Big Green scored all four of its runs in the sixth inning when an error, a walk, and a base hit loaded the bases with one out. Another fielding error then allowed two runs to score. The Knights got the second out, but another walk loaded the bases again and a clutch single up the middle stretched the Dartmouth lead to four.
UCF's only answer came in the bottom of the eighth, when right fielder Josh Moser sent the first pitch he saw over the fence in right-center field. The solo home run was his second of the season.
The Black and Gold finished the evening with one run on seven hits and three errors. Senior starter Juan Pimentel went seven and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts but was charged with all four runs. Despite taking his first loss of the season, he remains the Knights top starter with a 5-1 record and a 1.29 ERA.
The Knights drop to 18-6 on the season, going 16-4 at home and 2-2 on the road. Sunday's finale will stream live on UCFKnights.TV or fans can click here to follow along via live stats. Purchase tickets in advance by clicking here or calling 407-UCF-1000.
The first 150 fans in attendance Sunday will receive UCF baseball cards and fans 12 and under can run the bases following the game. The UCF Student Government Association will also be providing complimentary sunglasses while supplies last.
