Home Sweet Meet

Directions Autism Awareness Walk Black and Gold Challenge Schedule

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team opens outdoor action at home this weekend, hosting the Black and Gold Challenge on Friday and Saturday at the UCF Track and Field Complex.

The two-day meet will feature 12 teams and over 400 athletes. Nine schools from the Sunshine State will be competing, including the Knights and Florida. Fellow American Athletic Conference member UConn also makes the trip south for the meet, and will be joined by Marquette and Maine.

Friday's events include the javelin, beginning at 11 a.m., and the hammer throw at 2:30 p.m.

On Saturday, UCF will host an Autism Awareness Walk. Activities on IOA Plaza begin at 11 a.m., with the 1,000-meter walk/run/jog taking place at 1 p.m.

The field events begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the women's discus. Running events will begin following the Autism Awareness Walk, with the steeplechase set for a 2 p.m. start time.

With the Black and Gold Challenge as the lone home event of the season, UCF will recognize its seniors at 6:20 p.m., prior to the final event of the day.

The Knights look to carry the momentum from indoor competition outside. UCF earned its first league title in the American Athletic Conference on Feb. 25, edging Cincinnati by two points in the final team standings. Redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney made her first NCAA Indoor Championship appearance and earned First Team All-America honors in the 5,000-meter run on March 10.
