ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights) – For the first time in her track and field career, Anne-Marie Blaney will represent UCF at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The Ocala, Fla., native qualified for the 2017 championship in the 5,000-meter run. The indoor championships will be held March 10-11 in College Station, Texas.
Blaney advanced to the indoor championships for the first time in her collegiate career, and she becomes the first Knight to qualify since the 2013 indoor championships.
Her record-setting time of 15:55.69 at the Music City Challenge on Feb. 10 ranks 12th among the 16 competitors in the event.
In her first three outings of the season, Blaney set school records in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. At the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship, she earned her third consecutive individual league title in the 5,000-meter run. Named the Most Outstanding Track Performer, Blaney collected 26 points over three events to help the Knights earn The American team title.
