ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Black and Gold slipped to third Monday, as the Bulldogs and Hurricanes came out swinging in round two of the UCF Challenge. Despite the setback, the Knights are just eight shots back of leader Mississippi State and trail second place Miami by a single shot.
Individuals led the way for UCF on day two, as junior Kaeli Jones fired a three-under par 69 moving up to a tie for 11th overall. Sophomore Anna Hack also played well, notching a -2 (70) for the round. Hack birdied 4 of her last seven holes including three-straight birdies on holes two, three and four.
In team play, freshman Maria Balcazar also shot a -2 (70) while senior Ayaka Nakayama turned in a -1 (71). Nakayama is tied for fifth overall at -5 for the tournament. Senior Johanna Larsson finished with a solid round of even par, senior Ashley Holder carded a +3 (75) and sophomore Nicolette Donovan shot a +5 (77).
Tuesday's final round is set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Fans are welcome to catch the action in person or follow along via live scoring.
