ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.) – Fresh off the 2017 American Athletic Conference indoor championship, the UCF track and field team added more accolades to its spring season. The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its final event rankings of the indoor season, and the Knights earned a top 25 spot in three events.
Four members of the squad combined for the fifth spot in the nation in the weight throw. Chelsea Gobourne, Tayla Greene, Jhane' Carter and Gabby Durant combine for an average of 63-6.5/19.37m.
The quartet combined for 20 points at The American Championship, finishing second, fourth, fifth and sixth in the standings. Nationally, Gobourne (24), Greene (56) and Carter (74) land among the top 100 throwers in the event.
The Knights are No. 15 in the 60-meter dash with an average time of 7.47. J'Nea Bellamy (37) and Alissa Williams (59) hold top 60 times in the country. Bellamy defended her individual conference title in the event over the weekend, while Williams finished third.
UCF is No. 17 in the 200-meter dash with an average time of 24.03. Williams (78) and Bellamy (100) both land in the top 100 in the country. Williams posted a career-best mark of 23.85 to finish third in the event at The American Championships.
