ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – An impressive weekend from Courtney Rotton led the junior to the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor. The league office announced on Monday.
The Clermont, Fla., native, who notched a hit in all five of UCF's games, compiled a .533 batting average, with a .588 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage on the week.
Rotton's eight hits included a double and a triple. She also drove in four runs for the Knights.
She tallied three of the Knights' five total hits in two games vs. No. 10 Alabama, including the only two hits for UCF on Feb. 24. Last season, Rotton went 4-for-4 with five RBI as the Knights upset No. 5 Alabama at the UCF Softball Complex to earn her first career honor from The American. In her career, Rotton is 7-for-10 at the plate with nine RBI against the Crimson Tide.
"Courtney was great at the plate all weekend," head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said. "She was very balanced and focused on what she wanted to hit. She did a nice job in having the confidence of getting something done and did that with her extra base hit [against Alabama on Sunday]."
Rotton earned the third league accolade of her career, garnering the distinction twice during her sophomore campaign.
UCF heads to Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The Knights start a 19-game home stand on Friday at 3 p.m. against Providence at the UCF Softball Complex.
