PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- After holding the first round lead, the UCF men's golf team slipped back to third place at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The Knights were 11-over par in Saturday's second round and are now +8 for the tournament.
The host North Florida Ospreys jumped from sixth place to grab the two-round lead. Jacksonville climbed all the way from eighth to second Saturday. UCF is tied with Tennessee and Liberty for third. UNF is +1 for the tournament, while JU is +4 and the trio in third place is +8.
Kyler Tate made the biggest move for the Knights Saturday. He carded a 1-under 71 in the second round to move up to 45th to 23rd place. Donnie Trosper and Manuel Elvira -- who held the first-round lead -- are the highest-ranked UCF golfers after two rounds. Trosper carded scores of 71 and 75 in the first two rounds, while Elvira was at 69 and 77. That UCF duo is tied for tied for 17th at 146 (+2).
Ryan Stovash (71-77-148 +4) and Bobby Bai (74-76-150 +6) are tied for 30th and 43rd, respectively.
