ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- Head coach Todd Dagenais has announced the spring schedule for UCF Volleyball. The Knights will play four matches, beginning Feb. 25 when UCF faces USF in Tampa.
Saturday's match vs. the Bulls begins at 10 a.m. The remainder of the schedule includes a March 3 match against USF at The Venue and a March 30 matchup against Florida State at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla. The Knights battle Florida at ESPN Wide World of Sports on April 9.
"We'll get kicked off this weekend with a tournament over at the University of South Florida," Dagenais said. "It will give us an opportunity play Division I, Division II and some junior college competition. More importantly, it's going to give us an opportunity to play players that did not get a lot of playing time or who redshirted last year. It's quite likely that they will see the vast majority of the play time. Whenever I head into a spring schedule, it's really more about us becoming a more well-rounded, a much deeper team than what we've been in the past."
Dagenais said the Knights will be focusing on three things during the matches – getting the setters more comfortable, getting younger players more playing time and figuring out who they are as a team.
"I think really the goals for the weekend are that we want Erin (Olson) and Miranda (Watkins) to find some rhythm with the offense, especially the middles and right sides," said Dagenais. "Let's see if we get some offensive consistency going there. We want to address one of the concerns that we had from the fall. As a team, I want to try to figure out where we are and the things that we need to practice. It's not so much about the wins and losses. It's not about the points. it's really about who we are and the things we need to work on."
