ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After four games, the UCF baseball team remains the only undefeated team in the American Athletic Conference at 4-0. Next, the Knights play host to the Manhattan Jaspers for a three-game series at the UCF Baseball Complex this weekend.
Friday marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools and the next victory by UCF will mark the 1500th win in program history as the Knights all-time record currently stands at 1499-1004-10 dating back to 1973.
Senior right-hander Robby Howell is scheduled to make his second start of the season Friday. Howell earned a 1.80 ERA in his first outing against Siena where he threw five innings, gave up three runs on five hits with no walks and struck out nine.
Head coach Greg Lovelady has been pleased with his teams pitching thus far. The Knights staff has a combined ERA of 2.00 and 51 stirkeouts to just 6 walks.
"The pitching staff has been phenomenal all weekend," he said. "I'm really proud of those guys, they've done a great job of putting us in a position to win games."
Senior right-hander Juan Pimentel will get the nod Saturday, and redshirt junior Jason Bahr is scheduled to start Sunday.
The Black and Gold have started fast on the offensive side of the ball as well. The squad is hitting a combined .344 scoring 30 runs on 44 hits and have stolen 12 bases in 12 attempts.
Senior outfielder Eli Putnam leads the way, with nine hits, five RBIs, and two home runs. Senior Luke Hamblin also has five RBIs and boasts a .923 slugging percentage.

The first 50 students in attendance Friday night will receive a complimentary February Bobblehead. Saturday will be Military Appreciation night and the first 100 fans will have an opportunity to win prizes during baseball bingo.
