ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF has been training for over four weeks and is set to take on its first spring opponent, Orlando City B, on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.
Head coach Scott Calabrese also revealed the Knights complete spring slate, which features four home matches. Admission is free to all spring matches at the UCF Soccer Complex.
After taking on OCB to start the campaign, the Black and Gold face the United Soccer League (USL) Pro team again 10 days later on March 5 at 11 a.m. The time between matches enables the Knights to work on areas of improvement before facing the professional side a second time.
The Knights travel to St. Petersburg, Fla., on Mar. 11 for a neutral-site meeting with the U.S. U-17 National Team, who used the UCF training fields as a practice facility at the end of January.
An evening meeting with Eastern Florida State College is set for March 24 at 6 p.m. on the Knights' home pitch. UCF wraps up the slate on April 7 by hosting Tampa at 6:30 p.m.
Coach Calabrese was announced as the Knights' new leader on Dec. 6. UCF is coming off a campaign that saw the program finish in the top four of the American Athletic Conference, earning a spot in The American Championship for the first time since 2013.
