ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With the regular season winding down, the UCF women's basketball team hits the road for the final time with a trip to New Orleans. The Knights are set to face Tulane in an American Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday.
 
The Knights and the Green Wave are set for an 8 p.m. ET tip on the American Digital Network.
 
UCF (17-9, 7-6 The American) is currently tied for fourth in the league standings heading into the final stretch of games.
 
Junior Aliyah Gregory was named The American Player of the Week on Monday after another impressive week. She paces the league with 21.6 points per contest in conference play and has scored 20 or more points in seven of the last eight games.
 
The Knights have committed to lock-down defense this season. UCF is holding opponents to just 56.0 points per game, which ranks 23rd in the nation. The Black and Gold continue to lead the league and rank 15th in the country with an average of 11.4 steals per contest.
 
Senior Zykira Lewis has stepped up on defense and is currently tied for the fourth-most steals in a single season at UCF. The Bartow, Fla., native ranks 12th nationally with 82 steals during the 2016-17 campaign.
 
Lewis, who became the second Knight in program history to reach 1,700 career points, averages 14.7 points per game in conference action. She has 58 three-pointers on the season, which marks her third-straight season ranking in the top 10 at UCF for single season three-pointers.
 
Tulane enters the midweek contest with a 16-11 overall record and a 7-7 mark in The American. The Green Wave pushed No. 1 UConn to the brink on Saturday, but fell short in a 63-60 decision. Tulane sits in sixth in the league standings and is receiving votes in the national polls.
 
Kolby Morgan paces the squad with 19.0 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per contest. She has a team-high 44 steals and is second with 22 blocks. Leslie Vorpahl is second in scoring with 12.3 points per contest and Harlyn Wyatt has a team-high 23 blocks.
 
Tulane leads the all-time series, 12-6, and has won six straight matchups against the Knights. The Green Wave has earned all four victories in The American.
 
Next up, UCF returns to CFE Arena to close out the regular season. The Knights host SMU on Feb. 25 and No. 25 Temple on Feb. 27.
