GAINESVILLE (UCFKnights.com) -- Donnie Trosper recorded a Top 20 finish to lead the Knights in their first action of the spring. As a team, UCF tied for seventh at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
Trosper struggled a bit on the front nine Sunday, tallying three bogies. But the sohpomore rebounded nicely after the turn, tallying three birdies and just one more bogey. Trosper's final round score of 71 (+1) left him 5-over for the tournament and tied for 16th at the end of the tournament.
Sophomore Kyler Tate improved in each round over the weekend. He tallied scores of 74, 73 and 71 to finish +8 and tied for 33rd. Senior Ryan Stovash rebounded nicely on Sunday. He entered the final round in 53rd place, but fired an even-par 70 on Sunday to pull himself into a tie for 39th. Juniro Juuso Kahlos also finished in a tie for 39th at +9. Manuel Elvira (+10) rounded out the UCF lineup, finishing tied for 48th.
The Knights are back in action again Feb. 24-26 at the John Hayt Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
