Knights Ninth

NEW ORLEANS (UCFKnights.com) - With inclement weather on the horizon, the 2017 All State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate combined the second and third rounds into a 36-hole finale. The No. 19 Knights finished the day tied for ninth at English Turn Golf and Country Club, led by senior Ashley Holder who finished tied for 5th among individuals.

The 17-team field featured four top-20 opponents including No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Florida, No. 11 Miami, and No. 20 Oklahoma State. The Black and Gold led all teams with 174-combined pars and managed 31-total birdies.

Holder collected 12 birdies herself, 10 of which came in Monday's final 36-holes. She fired a second round -3 (69) to climb as high as second place among individuals. In the end, she notched her best finish of the season and has led the Knights in five of seven events this season.

Freshman Maria Balcazar tied for 41st, sophomore Nicolette Donovan tied 56th, and senior Johanna Larsson tied 74th.

Senior Ayaka Nakayama finished in the top-30, notching three birdies in her final round and shooting a +1 (73) in her final 18-holes.

Next the Knights will head to Gainesville, Fla. for the Lady Gator Invitational March 11-12.
