ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)—The UCF women's tennis team, who is off to a 4-1 start this season, continues match play at the USTA National Campus this weekend.
The Knights take on Florida A&M on Friday at 1 p.m. and Georgia Southern on Sunday at noon.
"I feel that we are improving each week and I like the direction our team is going," said head coach Bryan Koniecko. "We are starting to figure out what type of preparation and work ethic is needed to come up with wins against great programs."
Last weekend the Knights went 2-0 with victories over Stetson and Bethune-Cookman. Emilia Granstrom continued her undefeated season, clinching UCF's 5-2 victory over Stetson. The Gothenburg, Sweden native has seen action at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions.
In doubles, Granstrom and Natalia Serrano hold a 5-0 record at the No. 2 doubles spot. Granstrom's 11-0 record in doubles stretches back to March 16, 2016.
FAMU enters the match with a 0-3 overall record. Last weekend they fell to Wofford, 6-1. The Black and Gold undefeated when playing Florida A&M. The last time the two teams played came during the 2013 season, when the Knights swept the Rattlers in Orlando.
Georgia Southern opens its road trip at Stetson on Saturday before heading to the USTA National Campus. Currently, the Eagles have a 3-0 overall record and defeated Presbyterian last weekend. UCF has a 4-3 edge in the all-time series. The Knights earned a 5-2 victory over Georgia Southern during their last meeting during the 2014 season.
