PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (UCFKnights.com) - Due to rain in the Palm Springs, Calif., area, the Saturday games at the Mary Nutter Classic have been canceled for UCF.
The fields became unplayable after over an inch of rain fell following the contests on Friday evening, where the Knights topped Cal Poly, 2-1 (9 inn.), and fell to UCLA, 1-0. The maintenance crews diligently worked all day to resume play, but cloud cover prevented the surface adequately from drying.
The tournament is complete for the Knights, which are scheduled to fly back to Orlando on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights continue a two-weekend road trip on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala., against Gardner-Webb and No. 4 Alabama. The first pitch of the doubleheader at the Easton Bama Bash is set for 2:30 p.m.
