ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With just four games remaining on the regular season schedule, the UCF men's basketball team hits the road for a pair, beginning with a matchup at East Carolina Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Knights (16-10, 7-7 AAC) are coming off a 71-53 home victory over Tulsa on Tuesday night, but have lost six of their last eight games overall. At 7-7 in American Athletic Conference play, UCF is currently in sixth place in the standings, just behind UConn (8-5) and Memphis (8-6).
While the Knights are 12-3 at home, they are just 3-6 on the road this season. In fact, UCF has won just one league contest away from CFE Arena, an 85-72 triumph at Tulane to start conference play back on Dec. 28. The Knights finish the regular season with three out of four games on the road.
East Carolina (12-14, 4-9 AAC) welcomes the Knights to Greenville after an impressive 78-64 win over Temple on Wednesday. The Pirates have won two of their last three, defeating Tulane on Feb. 4 before falling at USF on Feb. 11.
Kentrell Barkley, B.J. Tyson and Caleb White all average double figure scoring for ECU, led by Barkley's 12.0 points per game. It was Barkley who led the Pirates with a team-high 16 points the last time these two teams met.
UCF defeated East Carolina 48-45 at CFE Arena back on Jan. 3. The Knights led by as many as 17 points with just six minutes remaining in the game, before the Pirates came all the way back to make a game of it down the stretch.
B.J. Taylor led all players in that game with 19 points in his first appearance since returning from a thumb injury that sidelined him for seven games. Taylor leads UCF with 16.9 points and 3.8 assists per game with four contests remaining.
Saturday's game will air on ESPNEWS with Kevin Brown and Paul Biancardi calling the action. Fans can also listen to the game on FM 96.9 The Game, the iHeart radio app and the UCF Knights app with Marc Daniels on the call.
