ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With three school records under her belt this season, redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney has now collected a trio of American Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week accolades. The league office announced on Tuesday.
The Ocala, Fla., native has been dominant this season, setting three school records in three different events for the Knights.
Most recently, she led from the gun to cruise to a 5000-meter run victory at the Music City Challenge on Feb. 10. Blaney posted the then-fifth-best time in the country at 15:55.69, and now has the ninth-best mark in the event. She finished just over 21 seconds ahead of second place.
In her first meet of the season, Blaney set the school record in the 3000-meter run at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational on Jan. 21. She followed that by stepping to the line the next week and cruising to her second straight record-setting win. She posted a 4:45.06 time to win the mile at the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 27. Her winning mark was more than four seconds faster than her previous best – the school record time of 4:49.50.
With Tuesday's league recognition, she has now collected her fourth indoor honor as a Knight. She has accumulated 16 conference awards during her career, which also includes nine cross country and three outdoor awards.
The Knights return to Birmingham for the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24.
