ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The Knights will be back under the lights Friday night, as they take on the Siena Saints in the 2017 season opener. In the first of multiple behind-the-scenes features on this year's squad, take a look at how first-year head coach Greg Lovelady, his staff, and the student-athletes have been gearing up for the season and adjusting to all the new changes surrounding the team.
Coach Lovelady discussed how his love for the game inspired him to want to give back and affect others. Ultimately, he decided coaching was the best vehicle for him to repay all the support and inspiration he received throughout his career as a player and fan.
"The kids have done an unbelievable job," Lovelady said. "They have bought in to what we want the culture to be and the changes they need to make to their lifestyle. I'm very proud of them and grateful for them."
"You can tell he has the same passion as he did when he was 15 years old," senior infielder Kam Gellinger said. "It hasn't changed at all, if anything he has even more passion now."

Opening Knight is set for Friday, Feb. 17 at the UCF Baseball Complex and is FREE to all fans. Complimentary parking is available in Garage F, Lot E8, or in the outfield lot for a $5 fee.
