ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Following a tough loss to UConn on Saturday, the UCF men's basketball team returns to action Tuesday night to host Tulsa. The Knights and the Golden Hurricane will tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPNEWS from CFE Arena.
UCF (15-10, 6-7 AAC) came back from down 18 points to get within three of the Huskies, but couldn't quite get all the way back, as UConn won 66-63 to put the Knights below .500 in league play for the first time this season.
The Huskies were on fire from long distance, shooting nearly 70 percent from three-point range on the night. The Knights, who rank 18th in the nation in the category, holding opponents to 30.8 percent on the year, will have to get back to form against the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa (12-12, 6-6 AAC) comes to Orlando just a half-game ahead of the Knights in the American Athletic Conference standings and have lost their last four contests. The last win for the Golden Hurricane was against UCF back on Jan. 28.
In that game Tulsa outscored UCF 26-9 during the final six and a half minutes of play to win 77-66 at the Reynolds Center. The Knights turned the ball over 16 times, which led to 23 points off turnovers for the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa now leads the all-time series between the two teams 12-6, but UCF has a 6-3 advantage in games played in Orlando. The Golden Hurricane have had the upper hand as of late, winning the last four contests in the series.
There will be plenty going on at CFE Arena on Valentine's Day. The first 500 students at the game will pick up an "I (heart) UCF" t-shirt and it is Swipe Right Night for students. Students who match with someone will be able to enjoy the game from the "It's a Match" suite with Valentine's prizes and a Knightro Bobblehead.
Tuesday's game will air on ESPNEWS with Allen Bestwick and Mark Wise calling the action. Fans can also listen to the game on FM 96.9 The Game, the iHeart radio app and the UCF Knights app with Marc Daniels and Taylor Young on the call.
