ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The 2017 version of National Signing Day resulted in another strong recruiting class for UCF. Head coach Scott Frost unveiled a crop of 21 new Knights Wednesday and added a 22nd on Thursday morning.

The 2017 UCF recruiting class included four mid-year signees, three of whom are already on campus and enrolled in classes this spring. Seventeen others officially became Knights Wednesday morning, as emails and text messages with valid National Letters-Of-Intent started rolling in.

Since his arrival 14 months ago, Frost said he and his staff would recruit Florida heavily. Sixteen of the 22 Knights in this year's class hail from the Sunshine State. Two more joined from Alabama and UCF found one each in the states of Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.

"I think we're in the best recruiting market in the United States," Frost said at his National Signing Day press conference. "There are as many players closely clustered in this state as you'll find anywhere in the United States. We want to have a big part in that. We want to give high school kids in Florida and option right in the state for a university to come to, get a great degree and play great football."

Frost said a full cycle of recruiting this year led to an even greater level of interest in the UCF program over last year.

"We were able to get a better caliber of player interested in us this year because of the momentum of this program," the second-year head coach said. "We ended up signing some kids that had offers and chances to go to a lot of places that you might not expect UCF to win. I think there are a lot of kids that are recognizing what we're trying to accomplish and all the things that UCF has to offer. I'm really thrilled with the guys that are going to come join us."

The class is currently split almost evenly amongst offense and defense, with 11 defenders and 10 offensive players signing on the dotted line. Linebackers were the top position of need. The following is a look at the number of recruits by position: Linebacker - 5; Defensive Back – 3; Defensive Line – 3; Offensive Line – 3; Wide Receiver – 3; Running Back – 3; Quarterback – 2.
