ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The American Athletic Conference (AAC) announced UCF senior Ashley Holder was awarded its Women's Golfer of the Week honor Wednesday.
Holder led the No. 17 Knights to a third place finish at the UCF Challenge this week as the Black and Gold faced a field that included nine other ranked opponents, including No. 10 Miami, No. 15 Kent State, and No. 19 Texas.
Holder tied for 10th overall in a field of 96 and scorched the course in her opening and closing rounds, turning in a three-day total of 67-75-69= 211 (-5).
UCF topped several AAC opponents including No. 35 SMU, No. 42 East Carolina, Tulane and South Florida. Holder's tournament scoring average was 70.33 and she has now been the team's top performer in four of its six events this season.
Holder was also named the 2014 AAC Freshman of the Year and was awarded back-to-back AAC Golfer of the Year honors in 2014 and 2015 and represented UCF as an individual at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regionals last season.
Next up, the Knights head to New Orleans for the All-State Sugar Bowl Classic hosted by Tulane Feb. 19-21.
