ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)—The UCF women's tennis team plays two matches this weekend. The Knights travel to Stetson on Saturday, and host Bethune-Cookman on Sunday.
Saturday's match will begin at 2 p.m., while Sunday's contest is set for a noon start.
UCF enters the weekend with a 2-1 record. In their last outing, the Black and Gold clinched the doubles point, but fell to Iowa, 5-2. The Knights opened the season with matching 7-1 victories over Flagler and Florida Tech.
"We have had almost two weeks to prepare for this weekend of matches and I am looking forward to seeing the improvements that the team has made," said head coach Bryan Koniecko. "Our team understands that against any opponent we play, if you have a lapse of intensity or concentration for 5-8 minutes, you can find yourself in trouble. Our focus has been fitness and disciplined tennis. Our group has done a good job to get themselves ready to go."
The Knights head to DeLand, Fla., on Saturday to take on the Hatters at 2 p.m. Stetson leads the all-time series, 27-23. The Hatters enter the matchup 0-1 after dropping a tight 4-3 contest to FAU on Jan. 20.
Originally scheduled for Jan. 22, weather forced the matchup between the Knights and Bethune-Cookman to be moved to Sunday. The Wildcats enter the matchup with a 1-0 record, after defeating Wofford, 5-2, on Thursday.
