Jacksonville, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – A trio of Knights took part in the Inaugural First Coast Amateur Championship this weekend. The event, held at the Amelia National Golf & Country Club, invited 104 golfers from around the country to test their mettle on its Tom Fazio-designed track.

UCF was led by sophomore Jalen Ledger who tied for second place, shooting 69-73-67= 209 (-7). Ledger played solid in the opening rounds before coming on strong in the third and final round, firing a 67 (-5) to secure his place on the podium. Mandarin High School senior Brandon Mancheno was equal to the task however, shooting a tournament-best final-round 66 (-6) to earn medalist honors.

Fellow sophomores Donnie Trosper and Andrew Arft also took part in the championship. Trosper tied for 29th, posting rounds of 71-72-79= 222 while Arft carded scores of 76-76-74= 226 to finish tied for 43rd.

Trosper leads the Knights with season-scoring average of 73 and has twice posted the teams best individual finish, including taking medalist honors at the Hartford Hawks Invitational in September. Ledger has yet to appear in the Knights lineup since transferring from Kentucky.

The Knights are scheduled to resume the 2016-17 campaign Feb. 18-19 when they head to Gainesville for the Gator Invitational.
