ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – A career season-opening performance from Chelsea Gobourne led to the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
A career-best 65-01.25/19.84m distance gave the senior a second place finish in the weight throw at the UAB Blazer Invite on Friday. She currently has the 16th-best mark in the event.
The Sarasota, Fla., native collected her first conference honor as a Knight.
The Knights return to action next weekend as they travel to the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky., for a two-day competition Jan. 20-21.
