LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – During the semifinals inside the hp Fieldhouse at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, the UCF Cheerleading team dazzled the standing-room only crowd Saturday night. The standout performance clinched one of the spots in the finals at the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships.
The Knights are slated to take the floor at 6:50 p.m. Sunday with 15 teams set to complete. Fans that are planning to come out to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex are encouraged to arrive by 6 p.m. A standing-room only crowd is anticipated for the finals that begin at 6:30 p.m.
Despite being ranked second behind Kentucky after the semifinals, the slate is wiped clean for UCF, which has won national championships in 2003 and 2007. The Knights have registered 11-straight top-four finishes, which includes runner-up titles the past three years.
The top three is rounded out by Alabama. Cincinnati, Hawaii, FSU, LSU, Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, USF and Western Kentucky are among the 15 other teams vying for the title.
KnightMoves also performed at the J Center on Saturday night in the semifinals of the UDA College Dance National Championships. The performance excited the lively crowd, but it wasn't enough to earn a berth in the finals of the very competitive hip hop division.
