ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After a cold winter weekend, the sun and warmth reappeared just in time for UCF Baseball to begin individual work outs.
Players took to the field and batting cages throughout the afternoon Monday, and a buzz of excitement filled the air around the UCF Baseball Complex. Coaches and players alike were ready to get back to work and debut a new era in Knights baseball come February 17.
"It's always exciting to have the kids back," head coach Greg Lovelady said. "It was good to have a couple weeks off… but we've been itching to have the kids back here and get to work."
Following fall practice, the coaching staff only had a short time to work with the team before the holiday break began in late November. The next several weeks before team practice will be dedicated to working with individuals, correcting any issues with technique or fundamentals that the coaches identified during the fall.
"There are some things we saw," Lovelady said. "We just need to change and tweak a few things with some guys. The next few weeks will allow us to do that and work on getting the team into playing shape."
The Knights will continue individual workouts until team practices begin on Jan. 27.
