TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)--UCF women's tennis team won four matches on the first day of the inaugural Seminole All-Conference Showdown.

In the Garnet draw, Monica Matias defeated Oklahoma's Serena Nash 6-2, 6-4. The junior will face Florida State's Julia Mikulski on Saturday. Natalia Serrano fell to the Sooners' Ann Selim 0-6, 6-4, 5-7 in the gold bracket.
Cortney Cesarini downed Wisconsin's Sydney Rider 6-0, 6-3. The senior advances to take on Florida State's Nandini Das.

In doubles, Serrano and Emilia Granstom defeated Jenny Moinard and Ally Krasilnikov 8-6, but fell to Alabama's Juliana Valero and Joanna Savva 8-3. Alabama's Smith Hinton and Elizabeth Bagerbaseh teamed up together and defeated Christiana Brigante and Ann Selim of Oklahoma, 8-5. The duo advanced to the finals of the Renegade/Osceola bracket with an 8-2 victory over Das and Andrea Garcia of FSU. In the Scott Speicher
bracket, Cesarini and Matias downed Wisconsin's Pick/Kirsch 8-2. The team fell in the semifinals to Ayan Broomfield and Marie-Alexandre Leduc of Clemson, 8-2.

The Knights will return to the court on Saturday beginning with doubles at 10 a.m., followed by singles.
