ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) -- UCF head football coach Scott Frost generally meets with the media on Thursday, but with tomorrow's Thanksgiving holiday, he gave his final assessment of the week and this week's War On I-4 Rivalry Game at USF a day early Wednesday.

In a national ranking by Real Time RPI, the American Athletic Conference is now listed in front of the Big 12. Frost said he doesn't pay much attention to those sorts of lists, but anecdotally knows exactly how tough the American Athletic Conference is.

"I don't put too much into these experts' rankings," Frost said. "I just know this is a good football league. There's a lot of good football teams in this conference. Our teams, when they get a chance to play against Power 5 teams, are competitive and winning. I think there's a lot of depth in this conference and a lot of good teams. It's tough to win every week in this conference and I think The American will continue to prove its strength in football."

Coach Frost was asked about being able to run the ball against South Florida. He said his team will need to be able to move the ball on the ground against the Bulls.

"I think one of the keys to this game is going to be if we can run the ball effectively," Frost said. "Our rushing game hasn't been where it needs to be in the last few weeks. We've got to be able to run the ball. That sets up everything else. I said that at the beginning of the year. I thought we did a good job for the first half or so of the season running the ball. We're having a little more trouble now. But if we want the rest of our offense to work, if we want to keep our defense off the field, we need to be able to run."
