ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Following an impressive 3-1 first week under new men's basketball head coach Johnny Dawkins, the Knights' star 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall was rewarded by the American Athletic Conference, being named the league's Player of the Week on Monday.

Fall, who averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a freshman last season, was outstanding in his first week playing for Dawkins, recording 17.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game over the course of four contests.

The sophomore recorded three double-doubles on the week, including a 26-point, 12-rebound effort in an 86-61 victory over Mississippi State and a 20-point, 13-board outing in a tightly contested 67-57 matchup against defending national champion and third ranked Villanova.

Against the Wildcats he tied a UCF record and set a new Division I era record for most field goals made without a miss, going 10-for-10 from the field.  Fall, who set a school record with 75 percent shooting as a freshman, is connecting at an 81 percent clip from the floor through four games this year.

Named The American Rookie of the Week twice last season, this marks Fall's first Player of the Week nod. He is the first Knight to ever be named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week in the league's four seasons of existence.
