Sunday Fun Day

FGCU Fall Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF women's tennis closed out the Florida Gulf Coast Fall Invitational Sunday afternoon, winning three-of-four singles matches against Minnesota and sweeping Stetson in doubles play.

Monica Matias grabbed a 6-4, 7-6 triumph over the Gophers' Caroline Ryba in the top singles position, while Natalia Serrao defeated Tina Kreinis in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.

Claudia May had, arguably, the most exciting match, coming back to bear Kalyssa Hall in three sets. The freshman dropped the first set 2-6 but won the second 7-6 to force a third set. In the final set, May edged Hall 10-7 to five UCF the singles victory over Minnesota.

Matias and Serrano paired up in doubles to defeat Stetson's top duo of Sofia Ferdin and Maja Salibasic 6-4, while May and Cortney Cesarini breezed by Brittany Hill and Katherine Stokes of the Hatters.
