ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, in recognition of earning a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015-16 academic year.
The Knights earned the honor for the eight-straight year with a team average of 3.26. A total of 590 women's programs around the country were bestowed with the distinction, an increase of 36 teams from the previous year.
"I'm pleased our team has once again been recognized for its academic performance," head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "The work our players do in the classroom is very important to me and I believe it is a reflection of the culture within our program and our athletic department. I couldn't be more proud of our players' consistent achievements and I'm grateful for the support they receive from our academic staff."
The Black and Gold are headed to Tulsa, Okla. and Memphis, Tenn. this week, for two pivotal conference match-ups that could determine its fate in the American Athletic Conference tournament.
