Trouncing Tulsa

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)--The Knights collected their sixth Friday sweep of the season against Tulsa. UCF now has a 17-5 overall record, going 7-2 in American Athletic Conference play.

"They (Tulsa) are such a dangerous team," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "It feels good to go out and compete against them, because you know if you can find a way to get a win, you did well. We didn't play great, a lot of our errors were self-inflicted. We are still trying to figure out how to set our middles, it's an area we are trying to improve in. It's a meaningful win that we beat a good team."

The Knights and the Golden Hurricane kept the match close in the first few points, neither team led by more than two until UCF went up 15-12. The Black and Gold used that momentum to take the first, 25-22. UCF and Tulsa kept the match close in the second set as well, the teams tied the score nine times with four lead changes. The Knights had a 12-7 lead, before Tulsa tied it up at 15-15. The teams went back and forth before Jeanne Westney secured the 25-23 victory with a kill. Following the break, Tulsa jumped out to an early 5-3 lead. The Knights tied up the score at 17 and a Kia Bright kill put them up 18-17. Battling back and forth the teams never gained more than one point until UCF clinched the match 26-24.
