ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The game time for the Knights' Oct. 29 matchup at Houston has been set for noon as announced by the league office. ESPNU will broadcast the contest.
The Knights have a 5-2 all-time record vs. the Cougars, but had a four-game win streak snapped by Houston's 59-10 victory last year.
Besides the 2015 matchup, the UCF-Houston series has been filled with heart-pounding moments:
- 2005 (at UCF) - UCF up 31-29, UH took over at the UH-45 with 1:29 on the clock. A sack and three incompletions gave UCF the win.
- 2006 (at UH) - Tied 31-31 in the fourth quarter, Houston scored the final 20 points for a 51-31 win.
- 2009 (at UCF) - UCF led No. 13/12 UH 37-20 in the fourth quarter until Houston closed it to 37-32. The Knights recovered UH's second onside kick attempt to preserve the victory.
- 2010 (at UH) - UH started a drive with 1:53 left on its own 22 and trailing 40-33. It converted a fourth down, but got as close as the UH-46 before Emery Allen broke up UH's final pass.
- 2013 (at UCF) - UH trailed 19-14 and took over at its own 38 with 3:02 left and marched to a first-and-goal from the UCF-10. On fourth down, Brandon Alexander earned the break-up in the end zone that sealed the win.
- 2014 (at UH) - UH trailed 17-12 and took over on its own 38 with 2:47 left. The Cougars got to the UCF-10 with 54 ticks left. After a UH penalty, quarterback Greg Ward Jr. scampered 19 yards to the goal line before Alexander knocked the ball into the end zone and out of bounds, resulting in a touchback and a UCF win.
UCF heads to UConn on Saturday for a noon matchup on ESPNews before taking on the Cougars.
