TAMPA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF cross country team raced to a second place team finish at the USF Invitational at The Claw on Friday afternoon. A trio of Knights posted top 10 finishes to help the Black and Gold finish ahead of the host Bulls.

Junior Rosie Chamberlain made her move down the stretch to finish in the top five for the Knights. She crossed the line in 18:34.98 for a fourth place finish in the 5k race.

"It was one of those days that we were tested as a team," Chamberlain said. "Although people may not have performed how we wanted, we still put in a good team performance to come in second and build momentum heading into conference."

Redshirt junior Holly Wooley finished just ahead of junior teammate Kalleigh Forrester. Wooley took ninth place, while Forrester finished in 10th place.

Freshman Brittany Gill finished 15th with a time of 19:15.42. Fellow freshman Victoria Jung posted a top 25 finish with a time of 19:41.40. Junior Ashton McMurray just missed the top 30, taking 33rd overall.

Redshirt junior Marissa Codispodi and junior Laura Korsmit finished 46th and 47th, respectively.

The Knights will face the Bulls again in two weeks at the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championship. The race, hosted by Cincinnati, will serve as the War on I4 rivalry matchup for the two squads. The program that records the best finish in each conference championship for those sports will receive points.
