Trip To Tampa

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cross country team returns to action on Friday, making a trip down I-4 for the USF Invitational.

The 5k race is slated for a 5 p.m. start at The Claw, the golf course one block northeast of the USF campus on Fletcher Ave.

Redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney returns to action after collecting several honors this week following a third straight title at the FSU Invitational. On Monday, she was named the USTFCCCA Division I National Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career. One day later, she was named The American Runner of the Week, collecting the league honor for the 13th time in a UCF uniform when including indoor and outdoor track.

A deeply talented roster came in handy for the Knights in their last outing. UCF edged Jacksonville for second place at the FSU Invitational. The scoring came down to the sixth place finisher, where freshman Victoria Jung secured a higher finish to give the Black and Gold the advantage.

Junior Rosie Chamberlain and redshirt junior Holly Wooley joined Blaney in the top 10 while junior Kalleigh Forrester added a fourth Knight finisher in the top 25.

In their final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Championships, the Knights will line up against some familiar faces. UCF is one of 25 schools competing in the race, along with Jacksonville, North Florida, Bethune-Cookman and host USF.

The Knights head to Cincinnati for the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 29
